How To Maintain Your Certification

Your ABPH board certification will remain active for ten years after the last day of the month when you took the exam. To recertify you may complete a recertification exam which will be half the length of the initial certification exam. In lieu of a recertification exam you may complete an alternate practice-based pathway similar to the ABMS maintenance of certification (MOC) option. You will be eligible to recertify in the eighth, ninth, or tenth year of your certification period by submitting a recertification application. The recertification application will require an active medical license in a state in the United States, an ABMS primary specialty board certification, and attestation of CME completion. Maintenance of certification (MOC) also requires an annual MOC fee of $175 paid every year after the initial certification year.
